Greetings Dear Knitters!
Just when we think that our Canadian winter has swept
through quickly and quietly, we've been struck with more cold weather
and snow. That could only mean one thing- more knitting! And now that
the holidays are behind us, we can partake in some selfish knitting.
We deserve it- right?
Not only that, I don't know about you but I'm the only
person in my life wearing store-bought mitts and hat! Something has
got to change around here...

March Break
Knitting!
|
|
|
If you and your crew
are sticking around this March Break, why not swing by the shop for
some lessons??? We will be offering classes for kids of all ages and
would love to have your offspring there!
Kids Learn to Knit (Ages 8-11)
Tuesday, March 16th from 10:00-11:30 am
$25.00 per child,
materials included.
Do you have a son or
daughter that has expressed an interest in knitting but you aren't
sure you're the one to teach them? (Lynn refused to listen to Mary at
that age, so it was another shop owner that taught her her!)
Bring your little one
to the shop to learn the basics and you never know... the knitting
population in your household just might increase by one!
'Older' Kids Learn to Knit (Ages 11-16)
Wednesday, March 17th
from 1:00-2:30pm
$25.00 per person,
materials included.
Don't let just the
little one in the house have all the fun! Let your teen sleep
in until noon and then bring them over to the shop for some
beginner lessons. I can think of no better way to spend a day...
Kids 'Fun with Fibre' (Ages 7-11)
Thursday, March 18th
from 10:00-11:30am
$25.00 per child,
materials included.
No knitting today!
But lots of other fun things that can be done with yarn- pompoms,
twisted cords, corking and of course lots of laughs! Your house will
be littered with yarn bits once your little one is through with this
class! (Come on... there are wrose things!)
'Older' Kids Granny Square
Friday, March 19th from 1:00-2:30
$25.00 per person,
materials included.
How can you not love
granny squares? I mean... really!?!?! They're incredibly
addictive and your in-house-teenager can begin on a square that
just might someday become blanket or cushion for their own nest.

cushion that Lynn's sister made her for Christmas!
Also, click HERE to see the
throw that Lynn made a while back.
Once you start, you just can't stop!

Knitting
Olympics
|
|
|

While it's a known fact that we don't often finish
projects due to our knitting ADD, the knitting olympics has us
convinced that we might actually get through something from start to
finish.
Don't know what the Knitting Olympics are?
Cast on a project at the opening ceremonies and be ready
to cast off in time to watch the closing ceremonies. Knit whatever
inspires you and make it a challenge to YOU. That could mean one baby
booty... that could mean a Kaffe Fassett sweater done out of 4 ply (I'd
love to meet the knitter that decisdes to tackle that task!)

about Lynn's grand plans.

What's New
in the Yarn Department?
|
|
It's only
the beginning of February and we're already getting our
Spring yarns rolling through the door each week!
Sirdar has outdone
themselves YET AGAIN and we're really excited to welcome their new
Spring collection. Snuggly
Crofter DK is an adorable self striping yarn that
knits up into sweet fair isle patterns for the little munchkin on
your knit-list.
Four vivid shades of Snuggly DK
have been introduced to the line as well as some softer shades of Tiny Tots.

Their ever popular
Baby Bamboo remains a fabulous yarn for not only
babies in your life- but you also! Does the name still have you not
convinced it's not for you??? Then try out their new yarn
'Flirt'. It's... the 'adult' version of the popular baby yarn that's
80% bamboo and 20% wool. Summer cardi anyone?
If you are on the hunt for a aran weight
acrylic/cotton blend- we've got the thing for you! Berroco 'Weekend'
comes in a wonderful range of colour and can be abused in
the wash all you want.

'Anu' knitted
from Berocco Weekend
For those looking for something a little more
sophisticated, check out our range of Lang Yarns that look
beautiful on their own, or even just as an accent on a cuff or
fringe. Flores,
Puerto, Senso... the names alone make me think I'm on
some exotic warm beach somewhere! Imagine what knitting with this
stuff must be like...
We have brought in a new yarn by Rowan called 'Revive'.
This DK weight yarn which is composed of recycled cotton, silk and viscose
is enough to make anyone swoon. With coloured flecks running
throughout, it's bound to match each and every article of clothing in
your wardbrobe.

Looking for some new patterns to add to your library?
We've got you covered. We have been getting in LOTS of fun new
patterns from Sirdar,
Two Old bags, Sivia Harding, Berroco... and more! I
can't decide where to begin. My needles just don't know which
direction they're pointing these days! Be sure to check out our 'Hot
off the Press' binder where all of the 'newbies' are kept safe and
sound.
