Can you believe that it's November already!?!?!? Only 43 more days
to get that Christmas knitting done. If you're anything like me though...
you'll be handing out a lot of IOU's. I like to think that anyone
who loves a knitter, understands that that's ok. (I just gave my
Grandma her Mother's Day Socks this week, and she still
loves me!)
New stuff is rolling into the shop at a very exciting rate and
we're so thrilled about everything we're putting out on the shelves
each day. Whether you're knitting for yourself, for your loved
ones, or looking for gift ideas for the knitter in your life- we've
got something for you!
We've been busy putting together kits and making up projects to
give you some ideas for the holiday gift-giving season. Don't have
time to whip up a project for a knitter-friend? How about a gift

Speaking of gift-giving, if you have a non-knitter in your life
whom you are secretly hoping comes around, why not give them a gift
that they will appreciate whether they jump on the knitting
bandwagon or not? Eucalan is a fabulous no-rinse cleaning solution
for your delicates. It's an eco-friendly alternative to
dry-cleaning and your friends will thank you! My hand knit socks
are always washed in this product and they just get softer and
softer each time. Besides, everyone does laundry!
Eucalan
is available at the shop in 100ml bottles for $3.99 or 500ml
bottles for $10.99. It comes in four scents- Grapefruit, Lavender,
Eucalyptus and Unscented. In our homes, we go through a 500ml
bottle rather quickly. So, if you're shopping for someone with a
big family (or who likes laundry!) why not get them a one gallon

We just want to thank ALL of you who participated in our Show and
Tell in September. We had such a great time seeing all of you in
one room, with projects in tow. You inspired all of us, as well as
each other! We have seen many of you since say "I want to knit
the shawl that the lady in blue made" etc. It was so exciting
to have all of you see what we have the pleasure of seeing every
day. So thank you!
We were able to send over $600.00 to SHARE which
will buy a community in Central America resources to keep them
moving forward. If you are interested in continuing to support
SHARE, be sure to check out the beautiful note cards we have at the
front desk made by Julie Gibbons. 100% of the proceeds go to SHARE
and there's a note card for everybody- knitters and non-knitters
alike. Thank you Julie!
We are already keen to start planning next years Show and Tell
event and truly hope that those that couldn't make it his year,
will be able to make it next year.

We have
had a group of knitters meeting to sit, knit and drink tea and
coffee every other Wednesday. It's a great crew, and it would be
great to add a few more to the mix! They meet from 1:00-3:00 and
the cost is FREE! Keep in mind though that this is not a class, and
there will be no instruction provided. This is just a time to kick
back and share ideas and knitting projects with other knitters.
Next meet up is Wednesday, November 18th.

If
you're looking for a quick gift idea, a scarf is always a great way
to go. We have loads of great scarf yarn that will knit up in and
evening. Lana Grossa 'Gnocchi' is a yarn that only
takes two or three balls for a great sized scarf. Cast on six or
eight stitches and within a few hours- you're done!
Mary
also whipped up a cowl knit from Punta Yarn's Meritwist that
is a chunky handpainted Merino wool. Three skeins makes a beautiful
and cozy cowl that any lovely lady on your list will just go
bananas for.
We seem to be seeing many knitters keen to crank out a few pairs of
last minute socks, and sock yarn is never something we run out of
at Mary's. Whether is a sturdy pair of black socks you're looking
to make, or a lacy pair of handpainted merino socks you're after-
we've got it! Shibui Sock has been restocked, and Punta
Yarns has come out with an irresistible handpainted
merino/nylon blend. Drops Fabel is a super yarn at only $5.50
for 50 grams. The colours and striping effect makes me never
want to put it down, and it wears like a dream. It takes every
ounce of strength not to cast on a new pair of socks everyday. I
just want to try them all!
As a result of having to make room for all the product that keeps
rolling in, the '50% off room' is
